MFA SHOW.

I have uploaded some new images from my MFA show that opened last week (April 12th).  The exhibition will be up until May 17th.

Here’s the info.

The MFA Show is the culminating presentation of MFA Candidates and an opportunity for new and ambitious work to be presented to the public. For over four months a team of three distinguished Guest Curators and
12 Graduate Curatorial Fellows have spent hours in SAIC’s MFA graduate studios: engaging artists, viewing current work, and envisioning the culminating exhibition. This invested approach allows for dialogue, process, and collaborative decision-making to guide the curatorial teams as they work together with 108 participating artists to bring the MFA Show to fruition over time.

This year’s Guest Curators are Lisa Dorin, Deputy Director for Curatorial Affairs at the Williams College Museum of Art; Duncan MacKenzie (SAIC MFA 2002), artist, founding member, and producer of Bad at Sports; and Encarnación M. Teruel (SAIC 1978–82), Director of Visual Arts, Media, and Multi-Disciplinary Programs at the Illinois Arts Council.

They have worked in collaboration with a team of Graduate Curatorial Fellows: Laura Bickford (Dual MA 2013), Lee Colon (MA 2013), Giana Gambino (Dual MA 2014), Aram Han (MFA 2013), Raven Munsell (Dual MA 2014), Laura Nevins (MA 2013), Brittany Newman (Dual MA 2013), Ian Ostrowski (MA 2013), William Ruggiero (MA 2013), Erin Toale (Dual MA 2013), Katherine Waddell (Dual MA 2013), Hanlu Zhang (MA 2013).

The exhibition overall is directed by Kate Zeller, Assistant Curator, Sullivan Galleries, with Ann Meisinger, Curatorial Assistant, and lead staff Todd Cashbaugh, Associate Director, Bob Grassel and Scott Carter, Exhibition Managers, as well as site managers Marissa Benedict, Alex Gartelman, and Zach Meisner.
The exhibition is on view from Saturday, April 13 through Friday, May 17.

And Vernissage TV did a video walk through.  My work is at the 2:34 minute mark.

Daniel Luedtke is a self-taught printmaker / artist / musician from Minneapolis MN. His brightly colored, graphicly bold prints utelize geometric abstraction paired with ubsurdist figurative elements that are often inspired by feminist politics, folk art, and kitsch. He got his start printing posters for his band Gay Beast back in 2006 and has since gotten many poster, packaging, and merchandise commissions. After completing a few printmaking residencies in 2008 and 2009 his focus has tended more toward fine-art printmaking, creating larger prints and installations for shows both in the u.s. and abroad.
